Hey, I’m Mariana and I live in New York City (Queens to be exact).
I grew up on a farm in a rural south east part of Poland dreaming of coming to America one day. To make a long story short, I did end up moving to the US in 2003 (Washington, DC as my first stop). In 2006 I moved to NYC and have been calling it home since then.
I have had my share of highs and lows and this is what made me who I am today. While New York and I have been in a quite challenging relationship – I love you when I hate you sort of thing – I make my life work here and do best to enjoy my life to the fullest.
The older I get the more I want to live my life with ‘back to basics’ attitude; just the way I grew up. I work hard and I am absolutely obsessed with saving money, budgeting and planning for my future. I shop at consignment stores, I coupon, cook from scratch, brown bag most of my lunches, use money saving apps, and never, ever pay a full price. Nothing makes me happier than logging into my retirement accounts to see the savings grow.
While I do enjoy saving more than spending, I am trying to find the balance and occasionally ‘splurge’ on things that bring me happiness. Things like travel, good quality skin care and vanilla latte!
I created this blog to share my thoughts on simplicity, saving money, frugal living in general, some random goodness and whatever else comes along as life goes on.
