Friday Favorites and Hungry Wolves

I have some goodies to share with you today. It is a mix of everything, something easy, I don’t want to bore you on a Friday 😉

During my commute this morning I witnessed (sort of a daily) scene when two total strangers just went at it, yelling and cursing. Reason, the usual, one of them was blocking subway’s door when the other was trying to get in before getting slammed with the closing door. Once both of them were inside of the subway car they started a war which lasted until one of them got off at Marcy Avenue. Phew. Watching for the first 2-3 minutes for sort of entertaining but after that everyone was just rolling their eyes trying to move away from the annoying passengers. So much energy wasted and what a bad start of a day. Watching this reminded me of an old Cherokee Legend that I heard a few years ago.

Friday Favorites and Hungry Wolves

1. Feed the right wolf

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life: “My son, there is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is evil. He is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, jealousy and resentment. The other is good. He is joy, love, hope, humility, peace, serenity, kindness, generosity, truth, empathy and bravery.”

The boy thought about it, and asked, “Grandfather, which wolf wins?”

The old man quietly replied: ‘The one you will feed’

2. Good reads this week

I like inspiring myself with positive stories and just love the Tiny Buddha website which is full of these.

Some of the posts I enjoyed:

3. Favorite quote this week

4. Want some ideas on how to spread joy?

100 Days of Kindness – Spreading Happiness, Joy, and Love  It reads in one seating, perfect for a rainy evening in (or a daily subway commute)

5. Favorite recipe

I really failed at cooking at home this week (due to various reasons*) and hit a record as far as getting take outs. I cooked only one dinner and it happened to be a new recipe. I just searched Pinterest for ‘super easy dinner’ and stumbled upon this Easy One Pan Fettuccine Alfredo recipe. Holly molly it was delicious. Not to mention there was only one pan to wash after dinner 😉
