I hadn’t stopped by here for 3+ weeks. You may remember me complaining over the summer about being a bit bored at work. Well, as of right after the Labor Day weekend, I complain no more. 😳
Well, being busy is good. Being busy is better than being bored.
Work surely has been plentiful this month; full time of it and more. Sadly, no overtime has been paid but what keeps me going at the office past 6pm (besides my boss) is the legendary bonus that I am due to receive sometime in December. I never had a job, before this one, that paid annual bonuses. I am very much looking forward to receiving it for the very first time. Since I do all my unpaid overtime with a smile on my face, I’d better be receiving a big, fat check when the time comes!
After 3 months at the new job I finally started going out during the day for 20-30 minutes just to get a break and enjoy some outside time. You know how it is in the beginning, just trying to really show my hard working self, I would not take a break, being available even through my lunch break. Now, that I am getting slightly more relaxed, I am trying to get a breather during a day.
While saving money is always a priority in my little Queens’ households, we had a few unplanned expenses such as my ER visit. While I shall not be complaining, as I am blessed to have a very low deductible ($750 per family per year), it was a bit sad to shell out $225 on an ER visit. But when I think about it, if I was to pay for all that was done to me, out of pocket, I would be in debt for months. Stay assured that I am well; all results came back fine; all (I think) was the results of ‘that time of the month’.
Last weekend we had visitors too. T.’s parents took a bus to NYC all the way from Norfolk. 8 hour drive each way; we surely appreciated their efforts. While we are not that close and the relationship is not super lovey dubbey, the visit went well and no one got hurt 😉 T. surely left it all on me to entertain and make sure his folks are not bored, but I managed to keep them busy for the most part. The weekend flew by and we all happily said our goodbyes. So long, till next year!
My dad, on the other hand, is doing a bit better. I have been so worried about him, I call him every morning and literally cannot wait to see him, my sis and all the nieces this November. I got an amazing deal on a return flight to Poland for $602 which is unheard of. It saves me another $600 as the same flights go for $1200 around Christmas. The savings on the airfare will go towards helping my dad with his prescriptions as well as paying some of his household bills. I am so happy I am able to help!
What have YOU been up to?
